Thursday 6th June

67 miles to Scott City

A much better day! Temperature 76 degrees and not so much wind. Am sitting under an awning by the side of a swimming pool at the Scott City Athletic Club where for the grand total of 15 dollars, cyclists can spend the night and use all the facilities. I might give the gym a miss but have used the pool!
Cycling through prairie grain land. Each town has a very large grain silo visible for miles on the horizon before you reach it. I passed in Ness 'City' a three story building built from limestone, which used to be known as the skyscraper of the prairies but the grain hoppers have taken over that role.
I also pass small oil wells with pumps. There is a train line running close to the road. No trains, but I guess they cart the grain away at the correct time of year.
